American space agency NASA is planning to send a successor to the Curiosity rover. NASA today announced that the next rover will have a small helicopter along for the ride. The aim is to test if the Martian atmosphere supports levitation of Vehicles. To mention the Martian atmosphere is 100 times thinner than that of Earth.
This next generation rover which is named as Mars Helicopter and is completely autonomous. This is being engineered at NASA’s jet propulsion laboratory for 4 years. If this project works then NASA can deploy more copters to explore the hidden areas of the Red Planet.
Maybe it is even possible to facilitate high-speed internet with the help of flying Drones to future citizens of Mars.
