Google adds ‘Name Tagging’ support to Gmail

Remember tagging (@name) your friends on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram? Now you can do the same inside Gmail.

Reported by Android Police this new feature came with the major redesign ahead of I/O 2018 developer’s conference.

Now you can simply tag a person inside Gmail body by typing @name or +name(for G+ profile) to mention him in the mail.

As soon as you type the name you will see the list of contact suggestions in the drop-down. Select the contact name and hit enter to mention the person.

Doing so will add the person to the recipient’s list and their names will be highlighted inside the mail body. This is not yet available for the mobile clients and is only available for Web client of Gmail.
